As small children, we develop beliefs that come as a direct result of the things we experience in our family of origin...whether those experiences were good or bad. Throughout our lives, these strongly held beliefs have deep and lasting impact on our choices, our relationships and the way we view God even as adults.

Because of childhood trauma and pain, we sometimes begin to believe lies about ourselves, our relationship with God and our place in this world. Faulty belief systems very often result in dysfunction, depression and destructive behaviors. Understanding God’s unconditional love for us along with the application of sound biblical principles of conflict resolution will bring about deep emotional healing. We can then move beyond the pain of the past and into a place of sustained emotional health.

While not primarily a self-help workbook, this material is ideal for personal study, small group settings, discussion forums and is an excellent discipleship tool.

A very interesting and hard hitting book and yet compassionate. Well written and well researched. The author reflects much experience in the areas of conflict resolution and emotional healing. It presents a journey of hope to those who may have experienced failure in personal and/or social behavior. An evangelistic guide to emotional and spiritual healing. I give it five stars. A Journey to Emotional Freedom eBook Mark West Reviews

Emotional struggles even amongst those in the church, are very real and I have personally battled my share for years, A Journey to Emotional Freedom is a great tool to understand the cause and effect of many of our emotional battles. Whether your dealing with anger, hurt, depression or guilt, just to name a few or struggling in your relationships or marriage, this book lays out a very strong foundation of the Biblical foundations of love to replace fear, forgiveness, resolution of guilt and much more and will lead you on a path to the ultimate prize of freedom from emotional bondage. Do not let yourself go another day feeling alone or ashamed of your emotional struggles, there is freedom and you are a journey away from discovering the truth.
A Journey to Emotional Freedom is a tool that was birthed in the mind of Mark West as he helped real people in complex, real life situations. Offering genuine, life changing help to prisoners in the Tennessee prison system has been Mark’s heart beat and ministry for 18 years. A Journey to Emotional Freedom is a guide that will take those willing on a journey through life’s toughest challenges. The road traveled will be difficult and promises to be lined with sweat and tears but the traveler will discover that God offers His grace to overcome obstacles and hindrances. It will require courage and perseverance, but this journey promises the freedom and peace that only God can offer. This is “Theo – (God) therapy.” You are invited to take this journey with others as you open the pages and work through the modules. Some have gone before, others are in the midst of the journey right now, and still others will follow later. A Journey to Emotional Freedom will help you experience genuine healing, responsible living, and the grace filled hope everyone needs and desires.
I recommend “A Journey to Emotional Freedom” for all adults who have “stuff” in their past. And to be honest, don’t we all have some type of “stuff?” Fear, guilt, shame, lack of forgiveness, and more; these strongholds keep us in bondage from the life God truly created for us.

Beth Moore’s “Breaking Free” provided insight to these areas for thousands of people. Mark West’s “A Journey to Emotional Freedom” takes it to the next level, however, by giving time-proven techniques, exercises, and applications to help the reader conquer strongholds and live in victory.

A Journey to Emotional Freedom reminds us of our unique and invaluable standing as God’s creation. West also helps the reader focus on the truth of our Creator rather than the lies of the world. So, despite the sin in our own lives and the lives of our family members, we can move from a place of defeat to a place of emotional freedom.
I liked the book, but I felt it would have been more powerful if it were
sprinkled with testimonials of God's healing power throughout the book.
I give it a 4 star.
It’s a great book to help take you to deeper levels of healing.
In this book, Mark helps the reader look back to acknowledge and forgive those who instilled lies into our belief system about ourselves. The book is written in a very encouraging, matter of fact, loving way and is filled with Bible scriptures to support all points made. Through the exercises and scriptures included, the reader will finally break free from past misconceptions and reveal the well-loved, genuine person God created--Finally!
