For the temple a tale of the fall of Jerusalem G A Henty Books
This historical novel by G A Henty is a touching masterpiece. It relates the account of the fall of Jerusalem as predicted in the Bible, God's Word, following the life of a fictional (I'm pretty sure) character called John-- who is later known as John of Gamala, due to his strategic attacks upon the Romans as they tried to conquer Israel and Judah completely. This is a very informative read, not to mention inspiring. This would make a really good popular historical TV series if followed to the "T". Another thing I gleaned from reading this is that great progress can only be made when people overlook their differences and are completely united under a worthy cause. To me, I see this as a lesson to us Christians, as we have so many divisions and denominations. If we can only forgive and overlook some of our disagreements, (with the exceptions of differing in extreme doctrinal matters, such as that Jesus Christ is God, their are three Persons in the Trinity, and that Jesus died to save all men, etc) and show LOVE like Jesus did, then I think we could make some more headway for His kingdom."For the Temple" re-ignites my love and passion for God's chosen people. The Lord will restore and already is restoring to them the years which the locusts have destroyed! Praise the Lord!!!!
All in all, this is a fantastic read. I recommend that everyone read this if they get the chance.

For the temple a tale of the fall of Jerusalem G A Henty Books Reviews
The book described the true history of Jerusalem and talked about the rivalry between the Romans and the Jews. It was exciting during the middle of the book where they had a short standoff.
I have only read 2 books from this author, but both were enjoyable. For a kids reading into history which is what they were originally intended for, I feel its a good source of info for kids today. Not only are Henty's books enjoyable and fun reads, they give an insight into everyday people in epic sweeping times of history past, thus taking it off just another history page of dates and numbers and breathing life into it. Some of the last 1800's religious Christian feelings of the time are added in, so for Christian parents, this author is probably something you'd like. I've noticed that worldview slipped into several of his works, although its not a huge theme in the overall work.
For those interested in the facts of history presented in an interesting, absorbing tale, G. A. Henty has done a masterful job. I have the hardcopy of the book for myself, but thought this would be a 'youth' version which I purchased for my grandson, 13. My only complaint is that the print is very small, an observation also made by my grandson.
I have several of Henty's books, and they are all excellent. An easy way to learn about history.
This was dictated to me by my 10 year old son after he read this book "This is about a Jewish boy who fought against the Romans to try to keep the temple from being destroyed in 70 AD. My favorite part of this book was when his band sieged Gamala. I learned that God does not always favor the Israelites because the temple was destroyed by fire and that if you sin against God, He may punish you in His own time. This was appropriate for someone my age (age 10) to read."
As a former children's librarian I was familiar with books by G A Henty. They have lively covers, readable print, and are in a 9X6 size that is convenient for pre teens to hold and read. However, this looked more like some kind of manual for a college course. The large size, small print, and unappealing cover were extremely disappointing!
It was a very good book. It started with an unclear beginning, but through the whole book there was excitement and interest. I can't begin to describe what a great book this was.
Cool book, bruh. I don't know how accurate the history is, but it's Henty, so it's probably okay. It departs from many of the standard Henty tropes- no wolf attacks, none of the main characters lose arms or legs. That doesn't mean a whole lot of dudes don't die though. Cecil B. De Mille would love the body count in this book! And it's almost Biblical! How did he not make a movie of this 100 years ago!
I bet Heirloom Audio will do an audio drama soon. And I bet it will be great!
